At PHC, we have always known fewer carbohydrates can result in better and sometimes easier weight loss.  We also know there are no "bad" foods. The "bad" comes from how we prepare foods and what foods we choose to eat.

PHC Plans include foods from all food groups - meats, vegetables, fruits, starches, dairy and fats.

Our programs can generically be described as low fat, low calorie, lower sodium, and higher fiber with high nutrient content. We include foods everyone should eat in amounts everyone should have. (Carbohydrates are included. We prefer whole grains and foods with a lower glycemic index,)

Clients are seen individually twice per week for 15-20 minute counseling sessions. The focus is on exercise, fluid consumptions, foods and lifestyle changes.

Clients keep a Daily PHC Journal and record what they eat, drink and their daily exercise. Journals are reviewed at each visit.

Our roles include those of coach, mentor, cheerleader advisor and motivator.

Programs are medically directed by a Physician who has worked with us for nearly 29 years. Our Senior Nurse, Patricia Hayes has been with us for 20 years. This longevity has played an important role in our success.

Medical History, Lab Work and Physician Review are completed prior to beginning any program.

Caloric levels are selected based on age, sex, activity level, medications, weight loss history, lifestyle and overall general health. We are able to help clients with specific health problems (i.e. diabetes, hypoglycemia, diverticulitis, migraines, hypertension, elevated lipids) through healthy eating and exercise.

While we desire each client's physician OK, any moderate to serious health problems will require the approval of the client's personal physician.

After reaching goal weight (a comfortable weight for each client), they begin LifePlan, a 52 week Stabilization & Maintenance Program to ensure that old habits and weight don't return.
